Hi,

I have tried installing Win 7 OS on an already installed Win 10 device, but the device won't boot up with the Win 7 ISO. I need Win 7 to run an ancient software that is only compatible with Win 7 OS.

Are there any workarounds to overwrite the Windows 10 OS with Windows 7? I looked online for any info, but I got the impression that it's near to impossible to downgrade the OS.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

You can create and run a virtual machine using Windows 7 for the application that needs it. There are various platforms that can create and host virtual machines on a Win 10 system. For example, Oracle's VirtualBox, VMWare's Worksation or Player and Microsoft's HyperV.

    Hi Kezy,

Thanks for your post. Before moving on, please understand that support for Windows 7 has ended. If you still want to downgrade to Windows 7, it is suggested to follow the steps.

Back your Data up and clean re-install Windows 7 and use your Windows 7 key to re-activate the new install of Windows 7 on that original device it was installed on.

You can use the exact same edition of Windows 7 Retail DVD and your Product Key on the COA sticker to reinstall the operating system.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
