However, when I try to log into my account in order to view my invoice using my email address of - colin@batsfordandco.co.uk - the address is not recognised.

When purchasing an M365 Business Basic license, an initial account is created along with the Azure tenant. This account is often different from the one used when purchasing the license. For example, when I buy a license and create a new tenant using the account "username@outlook.com", within the tenant this account might be assigned the address "username@onmicrosoft.com".

This happens because a domain hasn’t been assigned to the tenant yet, which is why the "onmicrosoft.com" domain is used. It can be frustrating, as the address could also take the form "username@customdomain.onmicrosoft.com".

However, the situation is different if the tenant is already created, the license for your account has expired, and was only renewed. In this case, the tenant administrator needs to check the user list for the specific account causing the issue. This will show the correct login for the account.

No, you don’t need to enter something like "colin@batsfordandco.co.uk@customdomain.onmicrosoft.com".

To log in, please try entering colin@batsfordandco.co.uk first, since this is your custom domain. If that still doesn’t work, it’s possible that your account is using the default domain "onmicrosoft.com".

In that case, please try colin@batsfordandco.onmicrosoft.com.

If neither of these works, I recommend reaching out to your tenant administrator to confirm the exact login for your account in the user list.

Neither "colin@batsfordandco.co.uk" or "colin@batsfordandco.onmicrosoft.com" have worked!

I am an accountant and very little knowledge as to how these systems work. All I need to do is get into my account in order to download my invoice from you. I am finding this all very frustrating and i am starting to regret signing up for your product.

Who is my "tenant administrator" and how do I reach out to them? My business is just me.

Since you are the only user in your business, it means you are automatically the tenant administrator. That means all management of your Microsoft 365 subscription (including accessing invoices) is done through your account. Let's try the following steps:

Log in using the Microsoft 365 admin center:

Go to admin.microsoft.com.

Try logging in with colin@batsfordandco.co.uk.

If this does not work, try the "Forgot my password" option on the login page. You will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.

Ensure you're using the correct login credentials:
