How can I assign a separate virtual desktop to each monitor in a dual monitor setup? i have 2 jobs and I want to keep workspaces seperated, as one of the two uses a screen recorder, but it's recording both screens as I am using the same virtual desktop, so I need 2 virtual desktops, 1 per monitor to keep things separate.

    Hi Brian Vasquez,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

To enable multi-monitor support in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), you need to use the Windows Desktop client. Please download and install the Windows Desktop AVD client and follow the steps below to configure multi-monitor:

Right-click on the Cloud PC icon and select Settings.

Toggle the Use default settings button to the OFF position.

Under Display Settings, select your preferred display configuration from the dropdown (Select Displays / All Displays / Single Display).

Make sure you are using the 64-bit version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client, as recommended on the Windows 365 client webpage.

For more details, please refer to the official documentations:

    Hi Brian Vasquez,

Unfortunately, Windows does not natively support assigning different virtual desktops to individual monitors. When you switch virtual desktops, it affects all monitors simultaneously. However, there are a few workarounds and third-party tools that might help you achieve a similar effect:

Using Task View and Multiple Desktops:

You can create multiple virtual desktops using Task View (Windows Key + Tab).

While you can’t assign a virtual desktop to a specific monitor, you can move applications between virtual desktops to keep your workspaces organized.

    Third-Party Tools:

Tools like DisplayFusion or Actual Multiple Monitors offer more advanced multi-monitor management features, including the ability to assign different virtual desktops to different monitors.

    Using Multiple User Accounts:

    • Another workaround is to use multiple user accounts and switch between them. Each user account can have its own set of applications and settings, effectively separating your workspaces.

For more detailed information, you can refer to the following Microsoft documentation:
