Many of the Azure Arc Enabled SQL Servers were no longer reporting SQL BPA as being enabled. After some investigation I found that all the servers with issues had the SqlAgent Extension with a Status of failed. I would like to know how that could have happened.

Also, after following the instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall the SqlAgent Extension, I have a few servers that are having trouble with the installation. It either fails or the extension's status is stuck as Creating. I am searching for an answer on how to correct these issues.

    Hi Sean I,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

As I understand, you are experiencing issue in Azure Arc SqlAgent Extension as Failing or Stuck.

After uninstall and reinstall some still have issue, for such servers could you please ensure that the Azure Arc agent and SQL Server version are up to date and the Azure Arc agent has the necessary permissions to install and manage the SqlAgent extension.

Check that the machine can communicate with Azure services by verifying outbound internet connectivity.

Also look at the options suggested in the below mentioned link to troubleshoot:

Let us know if this helped or you are still stuck.

    Awaiting your reply.
    Thanks
