Turn off compulsory MFA for Entra ID user account

Hi,

I have an Entra ID user account that is being used as a service account for a field tool authentication. I would like to disable the need for MFA authentication as this is not appropriate for this application. I understand Microsoft has made MFA compulsory for all Entra ID user accounts. Is there a way to disable this for accounts used as service accounts, rather than user accounts.

Thanks,

Mark Lane

The enforcement applies to the applications listed at https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/entra/identity/authentication/concept-mandatory-multifactor-authentication#applications

If your account is not using these apps, it's not subject to the enforcement. If it is, then you'll need to configure it for MFA. Unfortunately there is no opt-out option.
