Should I remove Azure Bastion and how?

Hello,

I have an azure bastion I don't know why. I believe I do not use it. The azure bastion page in azure portal tells me I cannot delete it because it is a third party application. I am billed more than 100 euros each month for this service. I only have a web app and do not use shell connection.

I would like to remove this bastion. How to know for which service it is used?

You should be able to delete the bastion instance by just finding it in the portal and clicking the delete button. What is the error message you are getting?

Hello, thanks for your reply.

The message I have is "You can't delete this application because it's a Microsoft first party application. Learn more.".

The delete button above is greyed out (disabled).
I believe this bastion was installed by some other resources, but I don't know which one.

Since this bastion costs a bit, I would like to remove it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you are using an Azure Bastion PaaS Service or an Azure enterprise application that is co-incidentally named "Bastion" ?

A Bastion PaaS Service should be deletable by following "az network bastion delete" Commands or via the Portal

Hello @Christophe Aubert,

welcome to this moderated Azure community forum.

Azure Bastion is a service running in the background providing you secure access to Azure VMs. The service is always on so you basically pay for the compute power, waiting to be used.

You can delete Azure Bastion eg. using this method, by running a Automation runbook.

We used this to delete Bastion if it was running in the evening, just like stopping VMs at a certain time.

This way, we were sure it was deleted after we used it during the day.

The only disadvantage is that it take ~15 minutes to get a new Bastion.
