Question 1: What is the support status for .NET Core and .NET Framework updates on Windows Server 2012 R2 after October 2023,
Answer: These are three products, .NET Core, .NET Framework, Windows Server 2012 R2. Their lifecycles are separate and independent.
Question 2: given that the OS will not receive any security updates?
Answer: Yes. Here is the official link: Microsoft Lifecycle Policy.
Question 3: Can components like .NET versions 3.5 to 4.2 still receive updates through newly released KBs?
Answer: It depends on which version of the .NET Framework you have. As shown in the figure below, they will all be supported and updated. For all expired products, we will no longer provide updates including security fixes or technical support for these versions.
