Below is the error I am getting: I have disabled SSL in Azure for easier access, added client IP (my IP) in networking and allowing public access. I have reproduced the issue from my end by creating an azure MySQL flexible server with the same configuration as your.

First please, click on the "enable SSL to secure connections " to enable it.

Make sure you are using the correct password.

On the host name section in the connection page of MYSQL Workbench, you need to insert the full server name.

Please try again and let me know the result.

Thank you , now I am getting a different error

I copied full server name and other connection strings from azure.

I tried same with DigiCertGlobalRootCA.crt.pem file that we can download from azure still same results. Please advice

The error message “Authentication plugin ‘caching_sha2_password’ cannot be loaded: The specified module could not be found.” typically occurs when the MySQL Workbench is unable to load the required authentication plugin. For more detailed information please see this doc https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/caching-sha2-pluggable-authentication.html and https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/upgrading-from-previous-series.html#upgrade-caching-sha2-password

You can also try updating to the latest version of MySQL Workbench. Older versions may not support the caching_sha2_password plugin.

I was able to make it work when I downgraded my MySQL Workbench to 8.0.38, seems like few more people were having the same issue in 8.0.40. Thank you for your time.

You’re welcome! I’m glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue by downgrading to MySQL Workbench 8.0.38. It’s not uncommon for newer versions of software to introduce changes that can sometimes cause unexpected issues. Sticking with a version that works for your setup is a good approach.
