Issue: PXE Boot Fails on Legacy BIOS, but Works on UEFI

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering an issue where PXE boot works perfectly in UEFI mode, but fails when using Legacy BIOS. The environment is set up with SCCM and WDS. When attempting PXE boot in Legacy BIOS mode, the boot fails, and I get the following logs:

User's image

User's image

Additionally, I've set the DHCP Option 67 to smsboot\x86\wdsnbp.com, which should work for BIOS clients. UEFI clients are booting successfully, but BIOS clients are unable to retrieve the boot file.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

1,Please try to add the latest driver to your boot image and update the boot image to your WDS server. Similar thread for your reference:

WinPE PXE works for UEFI but not in Legacy BIOS

2,Also you can try to remove options 66 and 67 from the DCHP scope and use IP-Helper instead to your firewall/security appliance hardware. Basically your networking hardware may have software to control DCHP options as well not just the Server OS DHCP role. Refer to:

You want to PXE Boot? Don't use DHCP Options. - Microsoft Tech Community

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,

    Simon
