Hello
This error typically indicates a timeout issue when the server is trying to connect to the Windows Update servers. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Check Proxy Settings: Ensure that your proxy settings are correctly configured. If you are using a proxy server, double-check the settings in Internet Explorer and make sure the proxy does not require a username or password to connect.
Registry Editor: Open the Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
. Delete the WUServer and WUStatusServer keys if they exist.
Restart Services: Stop the Windows Update service and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). Delete the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
folder, and then restart the services.
Extended Security Updates (ESU): If your servers are on-premises or in a hosted environment, you can enroll your Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 machines for Extended Security Updates via the Azure portal, connect through Azure Arc, and you'll be billed monthly via your Azure subscription.
