VMware VM client (Windows 2016) IP disappear for a few seconds

I have a Windows Server 2016 VM sitting on a VMware host (hosted by my local service provider which I have no access to). Everyday at 5am our application will restart on schedule, but recently we found that the restart would sometimes fail. Upon checking the logs it seems the network was down during restart. We setup a tcp connect job at the same time to observe the network stability and found the following result:

At line 28 the self IP changed from 192.168.1.16 to 0.0.0.0 for just one connection attempt. The connection failed. Then it resumed normal afterwards. This does not happen every day yet it re-occurs from time to time. Our first suspicion is of course the VM service provider but they have not looked into the problem yet. While we are still waiting I tried looking online for similar cases but to no avail.

Please also note that we use static IPs and did not setup DHCP.

Would like to know if anyone had any similar encounters, thank you.

    Hi ,

Thanks for your posting here. I have not encountered similar case yet. I would suspect this issue is more related with VM service provider, so I would suggest you contact VMware to do further troubleshooting.

If this issue is only occurred on one VM. You might try to remove the virtual switch and then re-add the virtual switch for problematic VM, then see if the problem still occurs.

It is also appreciated that the other members in our forum can share their experience with us about this question.

    Best Regards,

    Candy
