We have a Hyper-V 2019 Server utilized specifically for setting up and configuring printers/drivers on and then a Server 2012 R2 as our primary DC and use GPO to deploy network printers and instances for print tasks to workstations using targeted Security Groups. This process works fantastic especially when creating multiple printer instances for different tray tasks so that a 3rd party vendor can target each tray with this approach.
The problem I have is that I am trying to see if it is possible to do the same with deployment of locally USB-connected Dymo Twin-Turbo 450 printers from the server. My main goal is that the 3rd party software company will set up their backend printer database to use the exact same nomenclature for each install and the settings are the exact same, therefore minimizing the deployment process if I should have to replace or re-image a workstation.
For example, the current laser printer has 3 trays, but tray 2 uses letter size and tray 3 is legal size. To take advantage of the print formats, 4 different printers are created as such:
Front Printer - Letter Portrait
Front Printer - Letter Landscape
Front Printer - Legal Portrait
Front Printer - Legal Landscape
and the print defaults from the server restrict printing to just that specified tray and its layout/format per each printer instance and since these printers are all network, this is an easy task. The Dymo ones are a different issue altogether and I can't seem to find any documentation on how to do it. There's plenty of documentation if they were using a Dymo Network Print Server, but these are not.
