Unable to add users to permissions normally

Hello,

Something has changed within my environment and I am not sure what exactly. I was always able to add users by simply adding their user id within the permissions box. Now when I add a user id into the permissions box nothing is displaying at all. I am having to use i:0#.w|domain\userid to add users instead of the simply doing userid or domain\userid

    Hi, @Msdc ,

    According to your description, this issue occurs when you try to grant user permission. Do you witnessed similar behavior in other people picker field , like a person & group column? Will all the users in you AD have the same problem? And you mentioned things like "nothing is displaying at all", if you type in domain\userid and click on the check name button, does the user name get recognized?

    Besides, I would like to if this issue occur on all the sites in your farm? What is version of your SharePoint? Does the farm experience an upgrade or migration recently?

    This is happening within all sites. When i put in domain\userid and click check name no name is displayed at all.

    SharePoint 2013 On Prem, no upgrades or migrations have been done recently.

    try to check in browser developer tools > Network tab what requests are going when you type domain\userid and click Check name button and what responses are returned. Response may contain more details about this problem. Then also type i:0#.w|domain\userid and see requests and responses again and compare them with 1st scenario.
    I remember similar problem for one site in the past but it was related with FBA not with Windows auth.
