Visual Studio Installer Projects
Hello everybody,
In Visual Studio Community 2017, I installed Visual Studio Installer Projects, to get a setup program to install my solutions.
Well OK it provides a setup program, but a few more refinements would be welcome. Perhaps I did not look at it properly ?
After two projects here are the two points I would like to solve.
In fact for the first one it is nearly done. I systematically get a setup.exe program that runs a setup1.msi pack. By default, if I launch it as is, and use it to launch ten programs, then in case one has to be reinstalled, I am invited to uninstall it from the configuration panel. There, I find ten programs named Setup1.exe, and no way to distinguish one from the other. Well I renamed two things in the solution explorer, and it seems it will be good.
For the second one ...
I am systematically proposed to install the program in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Default company name\setup
That path is editable, I can type the company name and the program name in the last two segments of the address.
But it would be nice if I could do that before generating the setup program. Any hints about that ?
I think I remember I could get a shortcut in the startup menu. Any more hints than what is obtained from the default documentation ?
Some other places can be of interest in Windows, too.
I know that if I ask too many questions, it is better to use InnoSetup.
What about the tags I used ? vs-setup is rather to install Visual Studio, and ... Visual Studio Installer Projects is not specially focused on Windows 10.
But I did not see anything particularly convincing when typing Setup.
