Adding hot keys in Office for my AddIn

Hi all;

We have a COM (not VSTO) AddIn for Word, Excel, & PPT. We've added hotkeys to our part of the ribbon.

However, we would also like to add hotkeys for some actions that can not be done through the ribbon (they're items in a drop down menu in the ribbon). Is there a way to add hot keys to Office?

And if the answer is intercepting the message pump, are there any special do's or don'ts when implementing that.

And any suggestions about what we should do for our hotkeys to not get in the way of Office hotkeys?

Or is this all a very bad idea?
