Access accdb reverting to mdb

All,

I have a database that is still in the 2000 Access format (mdb). I successfully saved it as an accdb, though the pulldown menu for filetype gave me no options. I had to type in the extension. When closed and reopened, the database has reverted back to mdb. I can't figure out why this is happening or how to fix it.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Did you perform

    File -> Save As
    Click on the Access Database (*.accdb) so it is selected/highlighted
    Click on the Save As button
