I've been automating the creation, destruction and configuration of my various resources like kubenetes clusters, key vaults and blob storages. Where is a sample Azure CLI script for creating an Azure REDIS Cache? I've been forced to use the portal.azure.com and cut and paste and it is error prone and slow. Thanks Siegfried

I'm sorry, I forgot to explain that I had found and tried those instructions and the problem is that in contrast to the installation of other components (like Bitnami Redis Cache), the output of the script does not tell me the password and I still have to go portal.azure.com to get the connection string an manually paste it into my script (thus defeating the purpose of using this script instead of the web page).

az.cmd redis create --name $REDIS_SERVER_NAME --resource-group $AZ_RESOURCE_GROUP_REDIS --location $AZ_LOCATION --sku Basic --vm-size C0

Is there a command I can use to fetch the connection string for the newly created cache so my automated scripts can grab it?

Thanks for reverting back. Actually there is no direct way to get the entire connection string through azure CLI however you can get all the parameters needed to construct the conn string by running below commands once Azure Redis Cache is created:

Get the host url:

redis=($(az redis create --name nameofcache --resource-group resgrpname --location eastus --vm-size C0 --sku Basic --query [hostName,sslPort] --output tsv))

Get the primary key:

key=$(az redis list-keys --name nameofcache --resource-group resgrpname --query primaryKey --output tsv)

Then based on these 2 variables (redis and key), you can construct the connection string and use it in your script.
