I am sending an ordinary PDF File via Apple Mail app to someone who is receiving it in his Outlook for Mac app. The file has no encryption etc. The receiver receives the file as an P7m file on his Mac. But on his iPad using Outlook for Mac he managed to receive it as a PDF. Is this a known problem with the Outlook client for Mac?

My file was not encrypted and not sure where to loom for “encryption” on the receiver’s Mac. If the receiver did not open the email straight away but left it for awhile, the file turns into a PDF.

Thanks for your explanation. I thought it must have had to with the different programs being used. I sent it from Apple mail the receiver tried opening it on Outlook client for Mac OS (delivered as p7m) and also tried opening it on iPad (outlook) Apparently he was able to open it on the iPad. Thanks again
