Managed disk is empty after adding existing disk to VM

I am having issue that my managed disk which is created by vhd is empty after attaching with existing VM. The steps what i have done

Proc -1 :
We have a vhd file which is already taken and stored Azure storage.

  1. Downloaded the existing vhd file using Azure storage explorer
  2. Uploaded the vhd file using Azure storage explorer
  3. Created the managed disk using the vhd
  4. Then added the disk using existing disk to windows VM.
  5. Once it is done still we are getting empty hard disk

    Is it possible that the VHD is encrypted? If so you might try using this template which creates an encrypted managed disk from an encrypted VHD. Also make sure that the VHD was prepared, see here for documentation on this. You can also directly upload a VHD to a managed disk, maybe see if this process works for you.
