I am confused, trying to create HyperV machine with Linux distro

I have successfully enabled HyperV. I want to install a Linux distro.

I downloaded the IMG image of RaspBian. I used PassMark OSFMount to convert it to an ISO on a new virtual disk on my machine, E. No idea if it's bootable, it doesn't say. I then saved it as an ISO. The instructions I followed are shown here, and I saved the image as an ISO: https://windowsloop.com/convert-img-to-iso/

When I create and start the new virtual machine in HyperV, under installation options it asks to install from a bootable CD/DVD-ROM. I pick the ISO that I created and saved to my hard drive from OSFMount, but it says Boot Failure, select a proper boot device. I am stuck. What the heck am I doing wrong? This should be simple.

    Hi,

The .iso should be bootable. When we convert .img to .iso, it is not bootable. We can download Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac bootable installation media from the official website below.
    https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/rpd_x86/images/rpd_x86-2021-01-12/2021-01-11-raspios-buster-i386.iso

For the detailed steps about installing Raspbian OS, you can refer to
    https://www.avoiderrors.com/how-to-install-raspbian-os-on-hyper-v/

Note: the above two links are not from MS, just for your reference.

    Regards,

    Alex
