I have a Windows VPS .
I have an SQL server on it running on a non-standard port.
All of a sudden I couldn't access it.
Seems that the Windows Firewall rules weren't applying. I turned windows firewall off.
Now it connects intermittently. It will connect, then it won't then it will.
I can connect ok from the server itself. It's something to do with the network between the server and the world.
Hi,
1) At the time that you have issue connect the SQL Server on the VM, can you connect to the VM in other ports like RDP for example? Check this pls...
2) When there is an issue to connect, if you try again right after the failure, will this work? Or is the issue is for a range of time?
It was really weird. I was having all sorts of issues, both directions. RDP worked fine all the time. But my SSL certificate renewals were failing.
In frustration, I did what I should have done 3 hours earlier and rebooted the server, and that resolved everything. Have no idea why though.
