It does not say explicitly that Application gateway support but it actually has reverse proxy and Leve 2 bridge is not supported. AFAIK, it is virtual appliance-based feature.
Azure WAF is an add-on service for Azure Application Gateway, Azure Front Door, and Azure CDN, and is typically for securing web based services. If you are looking for SSL Termination, all 3 of these services allow you to configure SSL Termination.
