What does this warning for restoration mean?

Hi,

I have a virtual machine with SSD Premium disks and when doing a restore I found this information in (preparation location): It is highly recommended that you create a storage account and select it here to restore the premium VM. This list is filtered for storage accounts in the same subscription and location as vault, not ZRS, active and not attached to any affinity groups. This storage account will be used as a temporary location during the restore. To optimize costs, premium storage accounts are also filtered. Storage accounts with network restrictions are also disabled.

What does that mean?

The only preparation site I have is (... diag) created during the deployment of my virtual machines.

How do I create another one and how should I create one?

I have a storage account created during the creation of the virtual machines. (Standard- LRS - Storage v1)

@salves These are recommendations from Azure Backup to create new storage account. However, the clauses you see are to help customers know how these storage accounts are filtered and why you are unable to see all the storage accounts in the subscription. Having said that did you try to restore by filling these details? Kindly look into our restore document as well.

So do I need to create a new storage account to restore my virtual machines with SSD Premium drives? Why not use an existing one?

I list two accounts, one created automatically when I deployed the virtual machines, another one we created to also create another virtual machine from markteplace.

I already did a test restoring a non-SSD premium virtual machine, using the existing account and it worked perfectly. But as this virtual machine has SSD Premium, I was concerned.

I want to restore a virtual machine just, simple, but it has premium SSD drives.

The documentation does not mention the type of storage account and we know that there are two types of performance: standard and premium and account kind: V1, V2, Blob and File.

Will this generate a storage cost even if it is temporary?

Hi,

This is not a warning, it is simply a recommendation from Azure Backup that suggest you to create a new storage account for your restore instead of using an existing storage account.

What is it you want to achieve? Simply restore the SSD Premium disks?

Permanent or temporary, costs will be generated.
As for the restore, it doesn't matter if it's an Premium SSD or Standard SSD/HDD.

It is because he quotes (premium), so I believed to have some relevance in the information.

In short, just create a new account to perform the process, whether Standard or Premium does not make a difference. Right?
