I am planning for ADLS gen 2 storage with GA-GRS option to have replicated data from one to another region.
DR is capable for Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2, its just an automatic process that Microsoft kicks off in the event the storage account cannot be reached? If that is the case, how would I be able to test this scenario if I were planning a DR test of my environment which is crucial for any deletion of data manually by us?
If the process is in fact automatic and I cannot trigger the fail over myself, what is the recovery time? Or am I able to see what the RPO/RTO would be?

    Hi @AnushaKurmindla-2464,

Account replication like GRS or RA-GRS is not meant to protect against accidental deletion. Changes to your data will get replicated to the paired region so you won’t be able to failover to your secondary to retrieve data that was deleted on the primary.

To protect against accidental deletion, you should use soft delete.

Note: This feature “Soft delete” is not yet supported in accounts that have a hierarchical namespace (Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2).

I would suggest you to vote up an idea submitted by another Azure customer.

All of the feedback you share in these forums will be monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Azure.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
