I am a QlikView user and Qlik states that the file share for their product MUST be a Windows managed share. I want to move my infrastructure to the Azure cloud and I need the file share to be resilient and accessible from multiple servers. What are my options?

Azure Disk Storage
Azure Disk Storage
A high-performance, durable block storage designed to be used with Azure Virtual Machines and Azure VMware Solution.

    Hi,

Have you considered using Azure File Shares that can simply mapped to a Windows Server/ Windows Client?

Use an Azure file share with Windows

If Azure File Share doesn't work, then you can simply host an Azure VM with the File Services roles, as you might be familiar with on-premises.

    Best regards,
    Leon

@LanceAnderson-5476: Azure Files: Offers fully managed cloud file shares that you can access from anywhere via the industry standard Server Message Block (SMB) protocol. You can mount Azure file shares from cloud or on-premises deployments of Windows, Linux, and macOS.
    When to use: :

    • You want to "lift and shift" an application to the cloud that already uses the native file system APIs to share data between it and other applications running in Azure.
    • You want to replace or supplement on-premises file servers or NAS devices.
    • You want to store development and debugging tools that need to be accessed from many virtual machines.

Azure Blob : Allows unstructured data to be stored and accessed at a massive scale in block blobs.

Also supports Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 for enterprise big data analytics solutions.

    When to use:

    • You want your application to support streaming and random access scenarios.
    • You want to be able to access application data from anywhere.
    • You want to build an enterprise data lake on Azure and perform big data analytics.

For complete difference with examples, please refer to this article: https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-introduction?toc=/azure/storage/blobs/toc.json

I would recommend to use Azure Files sync.

    Hope this helps!

@LanceAnderson-5476 According to Qlik there is no specific guide for deploying Qlikview on Azure. However, the same information should apply from the Qlik Sense Deployment Guide. Here it says SMB 3.0 file storage is needed which is what Azure Files uses. It doesn't sound like mounting the share from a Windows server and sharing it from there would be necessary. However I am not familiar with the Qlik product and how it works. If you have further questions I would recommend reaching out to their support via their forums.

Hopefully this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
