Hi all,

Got a rather strange one. We have an new install of Skype for Business Server 2015 Enterprise edition (with May 2021 patches) running on windows 2019 server, with clients using Skype for business 2019 (16.0.10374.20040).

Chat, persistent chat, screen sharing etc are all working just fine.

WhiteBoard, Poll and Q&A, do work, but ONLY on the 2nd try. First try always fails, with the following message shown in the Skype Client

"Whiteboard [1] can't be uploaded to the meeting." in a pop-up and "An Error occurred while sharing" in the Client.

Anyone got any clues?

Thanks in advance

    Hi @NASH Martyn

Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?

The following official document said that if you install the Microsoft .NET Framework Security Update MS16-065 on a Front End or Standard Edition server for Skype for Business 2015, the internal client cannot connect to conferencing modalities normally. You could try to check it and see if the workaround is helpful to you.

Moreover, please try to clear the Skype for Business client cache file by following these steps:

    • Log out of Skype for Business
    • Delete any sign-in information
    • Exit Skype for Business
    • Navigate to Users > [Your Username] > AppData > Local > Microsoft > Office > 15.0 > Lync
    • Delete the sip_profileName folder
    • Delete all files in Tracing folder. Do not delete the folder itself

If the response is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and upvote it.

A Microsoft Skype for Business Server engineer attended site this week. We spent the day in all sorts of debug tools, all to no avail. We began to suspect a patch issue.

So we have built a new Windows 2019 Server, using Windows 2019 V1809 ISO image, installed Skype for Business 2015, created a new Site in the topology and create a standard edition front end pool. Patched Skype with Dec 2022 CU (latest hopefully).

Everything worked as expected first time, no errors.

So this means the issue is with our Corporate WIndows 2019 WIM image all servers are built from, or a patch problem.

Now the fun commences trying to narrow down the problem.

Yesterday rebuilt 2 servers with the corporate image, NO PATCHES applied. Today will we install SKype for Business server 2015 and test.

Will post back when we know more.

So after many more hours on this, 10's of rebuilds using different processes, we have come to the conclusion its something in the Dell VxRail virtualisation stack that is causing us issues.

Microsoft Hyper-V build using Windows 19 v1809 ISO works just fine.

Same ISO on on VMWare 7.0.3-21424296 on Dell VxRail 7.0.450 fails everytime.

going to try if I can convince the users here to do without Whitebaords, Polls and Q&A.
