Good afternoon Team.

I need your valuable help on how to configure a server with update Point software ROL as downstream.

My customer has 5 sites of which each site has its own MP-SUP. All the servers have as a single source of synchronization (main site) as shown in the following image.

I need to configure from scratch one of the servers as SUP.

validations:

  • The WSUS role is already installed inside the server.

What is the next step for the server to appear in the list as the image above?

Thank you.

    Hi @Rafael Aguilar ,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

From the Software Update Point Synchronization Status view, we could monitor the synchronization status for all software update points.
As the picture shown, the synchronization status for the SUPs are all succeed.
Normally, before Synchronizing Software Updates, the SUP has been installed and the next step is to configure classifications and products to synchronize.
    Please refer to this article:
    https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/sum/get-started/prepare-for-software-updates-management

But as you mentioned that it is needed to configure from scratch one of the servers as SUP.
Maybe we should start by installing SCCM Software Update Point Role.
Here is a step-by-step guide to install SUP role, please check:

(Note: This is not from MS, just for your reference.)

Hope the above information can help you.

Thank you very much for your response.

So far I have installed WSUS role inside the server. Do I have to start something?

What would be the next step to configure the SUP and tell him that the source is another server where he is going to check for updates? As downstream

Sorry, this is the first time I do this.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply!

Is that means the SUP role and WSUS role are on different servers?

If yes, we could configure the Sync Settings in the Properties of the Software Update Point.
Navigate to Administration > Sites > select the site that you want to configure > Configure Site Components > Software Update Point

In the Sync Settings tab, select the Synchronize from an upstream data source location(URL) and enter the path of your WSUS Server. As shown in the screenshot below.

    Hello @HanyunZhu-MSFT

I already have a server that downloads from Windows update (Server A).

My question is how to configure another server with role SUP (Server B) and pointing to my server A. Downstream type.

My server B install the role within the same WSUS and at the time of running "Launch Post Installation Task" I get the following errors in the logs:
