Hello Community,
I'm setting up a classroom with 31 new machines. These machines are managed with Intune.
Every machine will have a piece of software where we will need to feed the name of the logged-on student.
To extract this student name, do I need to look into Intune, or is this a win10 "thing" after login?
With other words: how do I get the students first and last name into an external application, after the student has logged in with his credentials via Intune.

No, you wouldn't query Intune for this as Intune has nothing to do with user accounts.
Are the system joined to an on-prem domain, Azure AD, or neither?

Thanks for reaching out. It's school holidays, so I can only guess the system and I think it's all Azure based.
But what I understand from your answer is that Intune manages the software deployment and has nothing to do with user accounts.

Thats where I try to find a link to, so that I can point the software dev into that direction to investigate.
Every student logs in with his username and password. I was hoping to find within Intune the link to the username, but this is not the right spot.

OK, so this isn't a local application, it's a web-based application? If so, is the application's authentication federated with Azure AD?
Also, what's the platform? Windows?
Well, the windows application is run locally where the teacher's PC acts as a server, controlling and routing all the NDI video streams to and from the 30 Pc;s of the students, who have a browser open with a local adres. They login by hand into the browser application and I was looking for a way to dig up their credentials from the machine or Intune, which is obviously not the place to look for.
The software we use is Christie Widget Designer, mostly used in museums, events and boardrooms.
But maybe the trick is, I realise now, to fill it into the browser once, and then save the username and password in the browser. These browser credentials are saved in the users account.
It's quite a setup, where every pc can broadcast to every other PC or networked TV monitor in a high quality.

Well, it's super easy to grab a user's name locally, no need to go anywhere for that although the account type does impact this I believe so domain account vs. local will vary this process slightly. A quick web search will get you this. Note though you said credentials, but I think you only mean username -- credentials means password as well but I don't think that's what you're after here.
