Cannot Configure Networking - HCI Eval Guide

Hello Experts,

I am following the Azure Stack HCI Eval Guide as below, but I always got stuck on the Step 2.5 - Define Networks.

Not matter how to change/mix the name and IP addresses, there are errors or endless “applying changes” showing in the page, therefore I cannot proceed with next step.
Is there a NIC/IP Address mapping requirement that I need to pay attention to?

Can you confirm a few things for me?

What build of Windows Admin Center are you using?

Are you using WAC in standalone (installed on Win10 client) or gateway (installed on Server 2019) mode?

If you go to the host after clicking 'Apply', do you see any changes made whatsoever?

In the previous steps, did you select to have WAC create a virtual switch? If so, which option did you select?

Have you attempted to set the IP addresses on the hosts directly, then using WAC to finish building the cluster?

I realize that you probably want to use WAC for all aspects of the build, so you likely do not want to try #5. However, I would be curious to know if WAC would proceed further if there were no changes to actually apply to the host.

To narrow down on this issue, it would likely require some tracing from the WAC node to see if what response it was getting (if any). HAR logs would be the first place to start. If you would like to gather these and submit them here, I would be glad to take a quick look. You may also want to consider opening a support case as we could assist you with much deeper troubleshooting.

Are you using WAC in standalone (installed on Win10 client) or gateway (installed on Server 2019) mode? Standalone version

If you go to the host after clicking 'Apply', do you see any changes made whatsoever? Yes, after clicking "Apply", all configurations are applied to the hosts very soon, but it shows "Applying changes" in WAC.

In the previous steps, did you select to have WAC create a virtual switch? If so, which option did you select? I was following the Eval Guide and selected "Create one virtual switch for compute only" Option.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure that the HAR file captured the issue. However, as your screenshot below seems to confirm, this is likely a CredSSP issue as Matt mentioned. It may be that the CredSSP popup isn't firing, and therefore the wizard gets stuck.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your time taking a look at my question.
I tried the methods you provided, allow pop-up, login as domain\labadmin, I also installed all patches for HCI nodes.

Now I am able to apply the changes, but saw the same error as below, I notice no CredSSP pop up (I looked everywhere).

Another note: when I was manually configuring the IP address of the 2 HCI nodes(192.168.0.4/192.168.0.5), I can't just pick any NIC I wanted, on certain NICs when I am assigning static IP address, it told me failure due to DHCP lease issue. I don't know if it's related, but I tried to be exactly match with the Eval guide to avoid any issue.

I'm not sure on this one i'm afraid - one thing you may wish to do is deploy using this guide: https://github.com/mattmcspirit/hybridworkshop/blob/main/steps/1_DeployAzureVM.md

This ARM template automates the DC, MGMT and HCI node creation, including domain join etc. It takes around an hour to run, but once done, you will likely be at the same point you are at now, and can hopefully proceed past this point.

I'm actually planning to replace the current HCI eval guide VM deployment, with the one from the hybrid workshop to streamline testing for people.

Hi Matt,

Your guide is absolutely brilliant, I am able to follow along and complete the networking creation.

And yes, please replace the current eval guide with your version, the previous error also applies to my colleague, we have the same issue, that means more people would have the same issue.
