Hi all,

we have the problem that our Exchange 2016 Shell takes more than one hour to start. It hangs trying to connect to the server:

We already checked the workaround with the screen buffer size, but this does not work for us.
After the hour the step loading the modules, with the green bar, takes about 10 seconds.

Anyone an idea?

Best regards
Dominik

    Hi,

There can be various reasons for this issue.

    1. Check event log and see any issues in applications or system section
    2. Clear application pool cache from IIS for PowerShell App Pool
    3. The article is relevant for old version of exchange but have a try - exchange-2010-management-console-emc-is-very-slow

    Try the suggestions listed above.

What's the CU version of your Exchange server? What changes have been made recently may related to the issue?

In addition, you could try using remote powershell to verify the connect time: Connect to Exchange servers using remote PowerShell

I also see a cause of such issue is the setting of large buffer for the width of the Exchange Management Shell window, you could try setting it to normal values (like 120)
