Hi MS Q&A,

I found a very strange observation regarding accounts disappears from Remote Desktop Server.

A. Symptom:

  • Remote desktop users in Domain-Controller have been added to the user list of the remote desktop server.
    • In this case, we were not added, built-in users. we used domain\users.
  • A client can access to the server(Win 2016 std x64) that enabled Remote Desktop Service.
  • After for a while, the accounts disappear from Remote Desktop User. See the figure below.

To verify this problem, could you please advise me on what things I have to check?

    Hello,

Thank you so much for posting here.

According to our description, we could open the Local Users and Groups on Win 2016 server, and add domain users to Remote Desktop Users group. Then check whether the accounts will disappear or not.

If there is the same issue, we could have a check whether there is any group policy, such as:

    Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Restricted Groups

Computer Configuration or User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Local Users and Groups

For any question, please feel free to contact us.

    Best regards,
    Hannah Xiong
