Now that Windows 10 v2004 is out, I have reports that our desktop application starts up and then the user is presented with a message: "You'll need a new app to open this ms-gamingoverlay link"
Unfortunately I don't have access to this OS due to our IT department not letting it install on our systems. I have sent a user info I found that indicates this might go away if the user disables the gaming bar. Anyone else hear about this issue on v2004? I have not had any reports about this in any previous Win 10 version.

2020-07-31T13:43:09.537+00:00 We are a classic desktop application (Win32) developed originally in the early to mid '90s. This is the first OS which this issue has shown up on. We are NOT a gaming application. We are a complex engineering application. I don't know if it matters but we do use the Microsoft Web Browser control in IE11 emulation mode to host a start page for our application and it is on start up that this message shows up.
Our engineer that has pulled v2004 has now indicated that he can disable the game bar to avoid the issue when I found a link on-line that gave that as one possible solution. I simple googled the message text to see that this issue is not new to us and that led me to the disable game bar work-around. But, that is not a long term solution. There is something in the v2004 update that is causing this. We have run with 1803 - 1909 without this issue.

2020-08-17T16:44:55.32+00:00 Well I set up our app with a timer and created a dump file when the timer went off. The dialog was up when I crashed the app and created the dump file. However, I examined every thread in our process and none of them were showing the dialog (or any dialog for that matter). Hence, I think this dialog is started by the OS or some other software running. So, I have nothing I can do about it nor can I tell you what triggered it.
I have found out that this has happened before on earlier versions of Windows 10. We have been telling customers to work around the issue by disabling this gaming bar. Since our users are engineers and not "gamers", so fa,r no one has objected to that.
Other than this, the only thing that might be special about our MFC based app is that we use the MS WebBrowser control to host our startup page. At this point the only way I can quickly determine what causes this is to open a case with MS support and send the support engineer our application.
