I purchased a 5-pack license of Office 2024 LTSC to install on a new RDS Server 2022.

I have spent hours reading and watching videos on how to install but have had no luck with the install.

Would appreciate assistance.

My apologies. The title should read RDS Server 2022.

I have read the links below and dozens of other links.

What I need is assistance from someone who has installed Office Standard 2024 LTSC on a terminal server successfully.

Here are some suggestions you can you refer based on researching:

Prerequisites

Correct Licensing

You must have Office LTSC Standard 2024 Volume License (Retail or OEM licenses are not allowed for RDS).

Ensure you also have Windows Server CALs and RDS CALs for all users.

Supported OS

Windows Server 2022 is supported for Office LTSC 2024.

Office Deployment Tool (ODT)

Download the latest version of ODT from Microsoft Download Center. Using an old ODT version is a common cause of installation failure.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Download and Extract ODT

Download the latest ODT executable and extract it to a folder, e.g., C:\ODT.

Step 2: Create Configuration XML

Create a file named configuration.xml in the ODT folder. Example for Office Standard 2024 LTSC:

<Configuration> <Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="PerpetualVL2024"> <Product ID="Standard2024Volume"> <Language ID="en-us" /> </Product> </Add> <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" /> <Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="1" /> <RemoveMSI /> </Configuration>

Key Points:

Channel="PerpetualVL2024" → Required for LTSC 2024.

SharedComputerLicensing="1" → Mandatory for RDS environments.

Add <RemoveMSI /> if older Office versions exist.

Step 3: Download Office Files

Run:

setup.exe /download configuration.xml

This downloads the Office LTSC 2024 installation files.

Step 4: Install Office

Run:

setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

This installs Office silently (no UI if Display Level=None).

Step 5: Activate Office

Use KMS or MAK keys from VLSC or Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

For KMS, ensure DNS SRV records are configured correctly

Kindly noted:

Test on a non-production RDS host first.

Keep ODT updated for future patches.

Configure update settings in XML (LTSC only gets security updates).

Communicate to users: LTSC does not include Teams or Copilot features

Apologies for my tardiness. I am a one person operation and sometimes work just overwhelms.

Prior to my initial post, I tried everything you suggested without success.

Rather than waste my time and my client's money, we decided not to use Microsoft Office on their Terminal Server.
