Why I am having problem with sharing copy of page on ONE NOTE app?

When I try to share my notes on ONE NOTE as ”send copy of page” the pop up Manu of sharing option disappears and so I can’t share the page. This was very easily happening previously. Please guide me for this. Thanks.

I understand you’re facing an issue where the “Send Copy of Page” option in OneNote disappears, preventing you from sharing your notes as you used to before.

Make sure you are using the latest version of OneNote (Windows 10 app or OneNote for Microsoft 365). Go to Settings → About → Check for Updates.

Ensure you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account. Check if the notebook is fully synced: File → Info → View Sync Status. If sync is pending or failed, fix that first.

If “Send Copy of Page” is not working, try:

Share Link to Page (this sends a view-only link).
Export Page as PDF:
- File → Export → PDF → Share via Email.

On Windows:

Settings → Apps → OneNote → Advanced Options → Repair.
If repair doesn’t work, try Reset (this will clear local data but keep cloud notebooks).

If the notebook is stored in SharePoint or OneDrive, verify that you have permission to share content.

Thank you for updating.

Here what you can do next:

Option 1. Reset OneNote's share components:

Close OneNote completely.

Open Windows PowerShell and run the command below to re-register OneNote's share integration: Get-AppxPackage *onenote* | Reset-AppxPackage

Wait for the process complete then reopen OneNote and test Send Copy of page again.

Option 2. Rebuild OneNote cache:

Press Win + R then type %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneNote

Open the folder that matches your version (for example 16.0)

Rename the folder cache > cache_old

Restart OneNote to let it recreate a fresh cache.

Option 3. Check Windows share infrastructure:

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps

Confirm that Mail and calendar and share target host are installed and up to date in Microsoft store

If missing, reinstall them

hi thanks for answering , not working any method. i am using i pad so i didn't get how to apply option 1 , option 2.

Thank you for clarifying that you're using an iPad.

So, with an iPad, please try these solutions:

Update OneNote: Open the App Store → search for OneNote → tap Update if available. Older versions often have sharing bugs.

Check iOS Share Permissions: Go to Settings > OneNote > Permissions → ensure Photos and Files & Folders are enabled.

Restart OneNote and iPad: Force close OneNote → restart the iPad → reopen OneNote and try again.

Use Export as PDF: In OneNote, tap Share → choose Send as PDF instead of “Send Copy of Page.” This works when the direct copy option fails.

Reinstall OneNote: If the issue persists, uninstall OneNote → reinstall from App Store → sign in again.

HI I HAVE ALREADY UPDATED THE APP, RESTARTED THE IPAD

THERE IS NO ANY OPTION OF " SEND AS PDF" ONLY OPTION IS SEND COPY OF PAGE.

WHENEVER I CLICK THAT IMMEDIATELY THE SHARING OPTIONS WITH WHATSAPP,EMAIL ETC APPEARS BUT THE MENU DISAPPEARS IN 1 SECOND!

I CANT SHARE HERE THE VIDEO OTHRWISE I WOULD HAVE.

PLEASE GUIDE FURTHER!

The sharing menu disappears because the iOS share extension used by OneNote crashes due to a conflict with third-party apps or invalid sharing permissions.

Since you've already updated and restarted, let's try a few advanced isolation steps to narrow this down:

Test a new blank page: create a new selection > new page > type plain text ("test") > try Share > Send a copy of page. If this works, the issue is content-specific.

Check iOS Share extensions: open Settings > General > Share Sheet > Suggested Apps. Temporarily toggle off 3rd-party apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail). Then retry Send copy of a page. If stable, one of those apps' share extensions is crashing -> reinstall the culprit.

Reset OneNote sandbox cache: Settings > General > iPad storage > OneNote > Offload App (keep data) > Reinstall.

If none of the above works, I recommend collecting the crash log and opening a formal ticket via Feedback

HI I CHECKED OPTION ONE, NOT WORKING.

COULDN'T FIND SHARE SHEET AND FURTHER IN OPTION 2.

TRIED OPTION 3 , SURPRISINGLY IT IS WORKING FOR SMALL FILES BUT WHEN I TRY TO SHARE LARGE FILES LIKE IN MBs AGAIN SAME ISSUE. PREVIOUSLY I COULD SHARE ANY LARGE FILES WITHOUT ANY ISSUE!

From your latest update, it looks like the problem is related to file size and memory handling within the iOS share extension used by OneNote. When the "Send Copy of Page" command is triggered, OneNote temporarily converts the content into a shareable package and passes it to iOS. If the page contains large embedded media, the share process may exceed iOS's memory or timeout limits, causing the share sheet to close instantly.

Go to Settings > General > iPad storage then ensures there is at least 1-2GB free.

You can try to reduce embedded media temporarily: open the affected page > copy only text content into a new blank page > try Send Copy of Page again. If it works, the failure is triggered by large attachments or embedded files.

Go to Print > save as PDF then share that file via Mail or Files

If the issue still persists, the only way is contact support via https://support.microsoft.com/contactus or Feedback

hi i have free space of 200gb in my ipad. after pressing "send copy of page" ipad is showing that "preparing the pdf" but then nothing is showing up !
