Intel AX200 wireless adapter still regularly disconnects

I'm posting this here again as I am receiving zero replies on my previous post, which is here:

https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/answers/questions/5569679/intel-ax200-wireless-adapter-regularly-disconnects

On the thread it's requested that I capture network diagnostic info which I did, and then received no replies.

I am dropping off WiFi almost daily since updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on the same laptop. The Intel AX200 drivers are fully up to date. The dropouts do not impact any other devices on the network. The dropouts do not appear to be associated with any specific application or heavy activity.

    Hey there,

I get how annoying it is when your Wi-Fi keeps dropping out, especially when everything else on the network is working fine.

What’s happening here is likely a compatibility hiccup between the Intel AX200 adapter and Windows 11, even with the latest drivers, some updates can mess with how the adapter talks to the system.

First thing I’d try is removing the current driver completely through Device Manager, rebooting, and then reinstalling it fresh from Intel’s website instead of relying on Windows Update.

Also, check the adapter’s power settings and make sure it’s not set to turn off to save power, that’s a common cause of random disconnects.

If you’ve already done those, let me know: are you running Windows 11 version 23H2 or 24H2?

And does the adapter vanish from Device Manager when it disconnects, or does it just lose connection?

    That’ll help narrow things down.

    Regards, Aron

Thanks for confirming all that, it really helps narrow things down.

Since the adapter doesn’t disappear from Device Manager and you’re seeing repeated “The driver disconnected while associating” events in your WLAN logs, it’s likely a driver-level issue with how the Intel AX200 is handling Wi-Fi 6 protocols in the Windows 11 25H2 environment.

Even though you’ve already done a clean installation of the latest drivers from Intel, some users have had better luck with slightly older versions like 22.170.0, which seem to be more stable on certain builds.

You might also want to check the adapter’s advanced settings in Device Manager, specifically, try disabling 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), lowering roaming aggressiveness, and setting the preferred band to 5GHz.

These tweaks can help reduce handshake failures and improve connection stability. If you’re comfortable sharing it, what router model are you using and is it set to WPA2 or WPA3?

That info could help pinpoint if there’s a compatibility issue between the router and the AX200 during association.
