Subject: Critical Bluetooth HID malfunction after KB5065436 update (Windows 11 24H2)

After installing cumulative update KB5065436 on October 31, 2025, my Bluetooth HID devices stopped functioning correctly. Specifically, my external Bluetooth adapter (USB dongle), which had been working flawlessly before the update, now fails to maintain stable connections with HID-class devices such as gamepads and keyboards.

The issue occurred immediately after the update was applied. I did not change any drivers, services, or hardware. Prior to the update, all devices connected and operated normally. After the update, HID devices either fail to pair, disconnect randomly, or are not recognized at all.

Troubleshooting steps I have already tried:

  • Attempted to uninstall KB5065436 via command line (wusa /uninstall /kb:5065436) — not permitted
  • Disabled Bluetooth power-saving options — no effect
  • Removed and re-paired Bluetooth devices — no effect
  • Reinstalled Bluetooth drivers — no effect
  • Restarted Bluetooth Support Service — no effect
  • Ran Bluetooth troubleshooter — no issues detected
  • No system restore point available

This issue affects external Bluetooth adapters, not just integrated ones, and seems to be directly tied to changes introduced in KB5065436. It severely impacts usability of HID peripherals, especially for gaming and accessibility.

Please investigate and confirm whether KB5065436 introduced regressions in the Bluetooth HID stack. A rollback (KIR) or hotfix would be greatly appreciated. I am currently forced to use USB connections as a workaround.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello! I tried searching for that KB in the Update Catalog and History, but I couldn't find it.

Are you subscribed to any Insider channel (Windows Insider Program)?

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Send me a screenshot.
    • Press WINDOWS + R > Type "winver" (no quotes) > Take a screenshot of the window and send it to me.

The latest Windows 11 24H2 update is KB5067036. Check for updates again.

    1. Open System Configuration > Click ''Windows Update'' > ''Check for updates''.
    2. Download all available updates. Click ''Advanced Options'' > ''Optional Updates'' > Select all available drivers and updates > Click ''Download and Install''.

Thanks for the details! The Windows installation you did in Settings > Recovery is not recommended for this situation. It uses the system itself to reinstall Windows, and this may cause some issues if your system is not stable.

    • Some errors may persist or worsen after reset. This is not a clean install.
    • If you want to do a clean install (recommended, faster and less hassle), you should create an installation media and format Windows.

If you want to do a clean installation, let me know and I'll help you.

Regarding Windows 11: Did you install Windows 11 yourself, or did it come pre-installed? Your processor is not supported. You may have bypassed the requirements. Microsoft allows this practice, but it doesn't provide support, and you are more likely to encounter errors during updates.

I checked the Gigabyte website and saw that your BIOS is outdated. Update your BIOS to the latest version and then reinstall the chipset drivers.

WARNING: Updating BIOS may have the risk of not booting up. Please back up your data first before updating the BIOS.

    • Connect a UPS or Power Supply (laptop) during the process and be careful not to press the keyboard, mouse or disconnect the USB device.
    • Any error may cause your computer to become inoperable.
    1. Download the latest BIOS version from the manufacturer's website.

    https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B450M-H-rev-1x/support#dl

    • Expand BIOS > Download version F67.
    • Expand Driver > Chipset > Download drivers AMD APU Driver and AMD Chipset Driver.

    1. Copy the downloaded file to a Flash Drive > Access the BIOS.
    • When turning on the computer, press the F2 keys without stopping until you access the BIOS. Also try the DELETE/DEL, F10, F8, ESC or F4 keys.
    • Enter advanced mode (F7 key) > Look for the BIOS Flash, Firmware Update, EZ Flash, or similar option.
    1. Search for Flash BIOS Update, Q-Flash or similar. Select the Flash Drive > Select update file > Follow the update steps.
    • Your BIOS will be updated, and your computer will restart several times.
    1. When you start your computer, install the downloaded chipset drivers > Restart your computer.

Thanks for your feedback and details!

You did well to report this on the Feedback Hub.

See if you can get a temporary UPS to update the BIOS, or you can take your computer to a Service Center.

Regarding the clean install, the repair reinstall in Settings → Recovery does not guarantee that your problem will be solved. Repair Reinstall is not a clean install. If you want to ensure that it is a 24H2 problem affecting your device, you should perform a clean install, as per the guide below.

    Create Installation Media

    1. To create an Installation Media, you will need the following items:
    • A Flash Drive ("Pen Drive") of 8GB or more.
    • Another computer with internet access.

ATTENTION: Back up the files on your Flash Drive to a safe location, as the Flash Drive will be formatted.

    1. Download the Media Creation Tools from the link below.

    Windows 11

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11?msockid=3590798658a5614e31406dbf59bb60ff

    1. Open Media Creation Tools > In the Permission Window, select "Yes".
    2. Accept the Terms > In the next window, check the option "Create installation media (USB Flash Drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC" > Continue.
    3. Under "Choose how the media will be used", select the "USB Flash Drive" option > Select the Flash Drive > Next.
    4. Wait for the Installation Media to be made.

    Entering Recovery Mode (WinRE)

    1. Connect the Installation Media to the PC that is not working properly.
    2. Access your PC's BIOS and check if the boot order is correct.
    • When turning on the PC, press the F2 key repeatedly until you access the BIOS. Also try the DELETE/DEL, F10, F8, ESC or F4 keys.
    • Enter advanced mode (F7 key) > Go to the Boot > Boot Order option > Place the "UEFI: <Make and Model of Installation Media>" option first.
    • If you have doubts about which device you should put in First Place (#1), take pictures of the Boot tab and attach them to this topic.
    • Save and exit (F10 key) > Yes.
    1. When you get to the Language and Keyboard Layout Selection screen, click Next > Install Now > If you do not have your Windows Key at the moment, click "I do not have a Product Key".
    2. If the Operating System selection options appear, choose the edition that came with your Windows originally > Next.
    • Home user is usually Windows Home or Windows Home Single Language.
    • If you are in doubt, select Home. If your Windows is Windows Pro, you can upgrade using your Activation Key.
    1. Accept the Terms > Next > Choose the option "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)".

**ATTENTION: In the next step, do not click DELETE and FORMAT on the partitions to avoid losing your data. **

    1. In the Type column, see which Drive has the System Type > Select the Drive with the largest amount of storage (usually the System Partition), or with the Name Local Disk C > Wait for Windows to install.
    • You will be informed that there is installation on the partition, ignore it and confirm.
    • Take a picture and attach it to the topic if you don't know.
    1. When you get to the User Configuration screen, personalize your Windows, enter your Microsoft Account and proceed to finish the installation.
    2. When Windows starts, open File Explorer (WINDOWS + E) > This PC > Local Disk C > Windows.old > Users > Name of your old user account -> Open all folders and copy your personal files.

    Update Windows and Drivers

When Windows starts, install the drivers and updates through Windows Update. Do not use third-party programs, as this may damage your PC. Use only Windows Update or the Manufacturer's Website.

    1. Open System Settings > Click on ''Update & Security'' > ''Windows Update'' > ''Check for updates''.
    2. Download all available updates. Click on ''Show optional updates'' marked in blue > Select all drivers and updates > Click on ''Download and Install''.
    3. When everything is finished, restart your computer > See if the problem will appear while performing the above steps.
