Hi, I'm trying to enrol my mother's laptop to get the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESUs)...

On her user account there were multiple problems I couldn't work around to get the "enrol" process to work So I added a new admin account to the laptop.

On the new account I was able to enrol the laptop in ESU...

However, back on my mother's account, the laptop shows as not being enrolled in Windows update.

Online there are some reports of the updates being installed automatically and other reports of them being delivered through windows update.

Q: Will the laptop receive updates via my mother's account when that isn't showed as enrolled on the ESU?

She can obviously log in to the new admin account to check for updates periodically, it would just be useful to know if she has to do that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi ,

The new account you registered with ESU will automatically receive security updates on your computer, but it will show up on the account you registered. I had this issue with my sister's laptop, which she uses with my mother; ESU is registered on my mother's account, but it doesn't show up on my sister's.

I believe that since you registered, you will receive updates, but because it's linked to a Microsoft account, it will show up on the account you created. However, I believe you don't need to access the new account to perform the updates.
