Why can't I share my MS 365 family account?

I purchased MS 365 Family and have sent invitations to one family member. Each time they open the invitation, the message is that they need to ask me to begin sharing. When I click the begin sharing link (again) in my MS account, it generates another email or a link to begin sharing.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Can I ask if your family member is signing in with a personal Microsoft account (like Outlook.com or Hotmail.com) when opening the invitation? The sharing link only works if they’re signed in with a personal Microsoft account, work or school accounts won’t be accepted.

If they are using a personal account, try these steps:

    • Go to the Microsoft 365 Family sharing page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Under your subscription, select Sharing > Manage sharing.
    • Remove the pending invite and send it again.
    • Have your family member open the link in a private/incognito browser window and sign in with their Microsoft account before accepting.

If it still loops after that, it could be a browser cache issue, clearing cookies or using a different browser usually helps.

Could you confirm what type of Microsoft account your family member is using when opening the invite?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
