Windows Server 2012 Foundation user profile

Good afternoon.

I have a Windows Server 2012 Foundation running, with RDP configured and 12 users accessing.

It has been running for 2 years without problems, but a couple of months ago I saw that the folders of the user profiles (c: \ users \ user1), have been duplicated with this new format (c: \ users \ user1.domain ).

This has not happened with everyone, only with some, and I do not understand why.

It is a server with AD configured from the first day, but the change now from user1 to user1.domain is not due.

    Sounds like profile corruption. If you logon with an account with local administrative rights, then after saving off docs, etc. from corrupt/abandoned profiles use Control Panel|Users and Passwords and delete the old profile stores. Then when you next logon a new profile is created from an image in \default user then you can copy your saved data back to new profile.

    The profile does not appear to be corrupted. This has happened with 3 users only, and the data of these users has been copied to the new profile.

    And a corrupt profile would cause it to be renamed as user1.domain instead of user1 ???

    Ok, a different issue altogether. It's normal expected behavior.

    If you first logged on to pc then later to domain you'll end up with two profiles

    %username%
    %username%.%userdomain%

    If you first logged on to domain then later to pc you'll end up with two profiles

    %username%
    %username%.%computername%

    Thanks for your answer, but I don't understand ...

    This server is also an RDP server, all AD users (from the first day), connect to it through RDP, so I do not understand the different name of the user profile folder to which it is due.

    From what you've described there's nothing wrong, its just the fact that the three mentioned users have logged on locally plus logged on to domain, hence the two profiles were created.
