Windows azure guest agent service not responding

Dear All,

We regularly see azure backup are getting failed due to VM is not able to communicate to the agent but windows azure agent service is in ruuning state. When we restart the service and trigger backup it works fine. so my doubt here is why service is getting hung or non-communicable even if its running in services.msc

Please help me to know , Thanks in an advance

Hi, Thanks for your reply, After I restart windows azure guest agent service backup works fine , My question here is why do we need to restart windows azure guest agent service even though its in running state. what makes windows azure guest agent service hung or non-communicable even if it is in running state.

Not sure what is causing this problem. We may need to deep dive technically and further investigate this issue to find the root cause of the problem. That would required a 1:1 discussion through a support channel.

For now try the following:
Change the status of the VM as Stopped(deallocated) and try to start the VM after it.
Delete the present Azure Guest Agent.
Try to connect the VM (RDP) and re-install the Agent manually.

See if this resolves the issue, if not please reach out to us by raising a technical support request. Let me know if you have any limitation creating a support ticket.

@AzureisMyCareer-5423 Thanks for reaching out to us!

Refreshing the agent state by adding a new disk should resolve this issue.

Try the following steps and let us know the status.

1.Add a blank disk in the VM to refresh the agent state

2.Restart VM (If possible)

3.Make sure agents are at the latest version

4.Trigger Backups again
