Hi All, can someone help me understand runas permissions in windows 10? If a standard user has read access to a file share and log on to windows with that account, can they runas a different user who has admin permissions to that share and be able to browse the shares as admin on their computers logged in as the standard user? If so I'm not able to, I just keep getting the windows prompt for credentials after I've confirmed its correct.

    Hi,

Yes you can, you can for example map the share as a network drive, when mapping a network drive you will be prompted to give credentials of a user who has permissions to that share.

OK thanks that's what I thought, however what if the user tried to access the share logged in as their "standard" account and then tried to use runas with their privileged account? This isnt working for me and have seen on other forums that the server denies a connection if they're already connected with a different account? f

Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. So as a work-around do a net use * /delete in between connections.
