I have Windows 10 Pro. Yesterday, my Word for Desktop worked fine. Today it is not even showing as installed on my computer. When I try to open Excel for Desktop, I get an error message that "the operating system is not presently configured to run this application." I need this fixed because I use word and excel all day everyday.
Did you optimized your computer with third-party software? Or were there any updates installed yesterday?
What version of Office are you using now? Please go to root folder to find Word and Excel and other Office apps.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16 or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16 to find WINWORD.EXE and EXCEL.EXE. Please note, the version of Office 2013 is 15, the version of Office 2010 is 14; 32-bit versions of Office, the Program Files need to be Program Files (x86).

I tried. My computer doesn't even have Word listed in the Apps anymore.
Then I recommend you to install Office again.

On your Control panel > Uninstall and change a program
And then look for the Application Microsoft Office > click and then modify and then you can do a quick repair or Online repair.
