Azure Backup Agent Backup Failed Inconsistencies in the backup data 0x3D093

Hello,

The full error message presented in the UI is: "The operation failed because backup has detected inconsistencies in the backup data. Please contact Microsoft Support (0x3D093)"

I have a remote worker who is getting this error. I cannot seem to find any information that directly relates to this error.

We have installed the latest agent, re-registered the computer with the server, checked for hard drive space issues. Nothing so far has worked.

I have the CD Error files but do not want to just post them in the blind.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

First thing, check if there is any anti-virus software is running/scanning the machine while backup is in progress.

If yes, ensure Azure backup agent is added in the AV exclusion list and also make sure the files/volumes being backed up are not blocked by AV

    Follow these workaround steps:
    • Open the Azure Backup Agent and click on schedule backup.
    • Navigate to the option “Select items to backup”
    • Remove from the configuration the volume which was selected before, and if you have another volume please select it, for example, D. Since we are doing a test, it might take several minutes, so to avoid that just create a .txt file in D volume and select only that file for the backup.
    • Then click on next and finish the configuration.
    • Trigger a backup of this new backup item that we selected.
    • Once it completes successfully, please re-configure the original settings for the original volume.

This should generate new VHDs ids and files, because when we swap from one volume to another and then we back up to the original volume the agent must do a full backup even when the volume was previously backed up.

    Hi,

Thanks for the input. I had already excluded and disabled AV but I will double check and try again.

I didn't have another volume to use as this is a laptop with a single drive. What I did do was create and mount a VHD and then backed that (and only that) up successfully. Once that was complete I then switched back to the original volume and was able to do a small test and everything seems to work now. I'm resetting the backup job to the original folders and settings and will wait for the schedule to kick in and see what happens.

I was wondering if there was a way to format or reset those temp scratch volumes but could not find a method. But this seems to work even though it's a long way around!

Thanks for your help. I'm marking your post as the answer.

    Cheers!
