Does Dataset's compression have an effect on saving network bandwidth?

I have a question about the compression of Delimited text format's Dataset properties on Azure Data Factory. Does it have an effect on saving network bandwith, for example, when using ExpressRoute service to make a network private? Or, does it only have an effect on saving storage usage rate?
