I'm attempting to setup the demo AKS architecture referenced here: https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/gaming/azure/reference-architectures/multiplayer-synchronous-aks Unfortunately the steps provided in the referenced repository for VMSS no longer appear to work. Steps taken: Added "publicIpAddressConfiguration": { "name": "pub1" } to the appropriate VMSS resource Manually scaled out the nodes to pick up the new configuration Received error: OutboundRules for VMs with public IpConfigurations (instance level publicIPs)...ipConfigurations/ipconfig1 are not supported What steps do I need to take to: Automatically assign my AKS nodes public IP addresses? Make those public IP addresses available to the k8s client? [i.e. kubectl get nodes -o wide] Happy to provide more details as needed!

@Kenneth Miner Apologies for the delay in response. Had a discussion internally and got to know that there’s a preview of AKS enabling PIP per Node . The same has been mentioned in this article . Can you check if it working for you or not?If yes I can raise a PR as well as applicable. Note : Since the feature is currently in preview so it is recommended to try out in Test environment so that if something doesn't work as impacted the Production environment won't get affected. The same has been mentioned in this article.

Can you check if it working for you or not?If yes I can raise a PR as well as applicable.

Note: Since the feature is currently in preview so it is recommended to try out in Test environment so that if something doesn't work as impacted the Production environment won't get affected.

I appreciate your patience. I was able to make progress with auto-creating public IPs for my nodes with your team's suggestion!

Unfortunately the kubernetes client does not appear to be able to access the node's IP (kubectl get nodes -o wide always shows <none> for the EXTERNAL-IP). Would it be appropriate to continue discussing that issue on this ticket? Or would you prefer I make a new post more specific to that sub-issue?

Edit: I see that my question is answered further down the documentation:

During preview, the Azure Instance Metadata Service doesn't currently support retrieval of public IP addresses for the standard tier VM SKU. Due to this limitation, you can't use kubectl commands to display the public IPs assigned to the nodes. However, the IPs are assigned and function as intended. The public IPs for your nodes are attached to the instances in your Virtual Machine Scale Set.
