How To Stop Multiple Instances of Program (SQL Studio Manager) from Opening

Thank you in advance for any help! I am having an issue where every-time I open a .sql file, it opens up another instance of SQL Server Studio Manager instead of just opening up the file within the same, already open instance. Is there a setting to always use the parent instance?
