I am unable to get through Visual Studio 6 installation on window 10. The installation struck at "setup seaching for Installed components"

According to your description, it seems you are trying to install the VB6 on the Windows 10 and meet the error message “Setup is searching for installed components”. If so, please make sure all VB6 installation contents store on your computer, not install from a CD, and install it with the administrator permission.
If you have 2 hard disks, please try to remove the second and retry the installation again.

Even if you manage to get around the install, it still freezes too often to be useful. Visual Studio 6 supports Windows 9x to Windows XP. No higher version of Windows is supported. If you want to use it on Windows 10, you have to use a virtual machine.
@Venkata Lakshmi Sudha Rani , does your installation is successful? If you have any updates, please feel free to let us know. I agreed with jiangshengvc, you can consider a virtual machine or install the latest VS version 2019 on Windows 10 for the better support.

This is a quirk in the installer. During this step the installer runs a deep scan of all your directories to find any existing copies that may be on your drive. You'll have to be patient and wait for this step to complete.
As for Windows 10 support, make sure to select custom setup and skip the data access components, specifically the ADO and RDS feature, as leaving it enabled will lead to Setup getting stuck at the end and failing to complete.

I also experienced the same problem when trying to re-install VB6.
Waited approximately 12 minutes for “Setup is searching for installed components”
to complete and then installation started after a couple of installation files that did not want to be installed, had to be IGNORED by me.
Unfortunately when trying to open vb6 it gives an error "Unexpected Error - quiting"
