Hi,
Can anyone help me understand the zone-redundant SKUs for ExpressRoute? I want to have a Standard SKU zone redundant ER. Should I select ErGw1AZ? Is ErGw1AZ=Standard SKU+zone redundant ER GW where instances automatically get distributed across AZs by Azure?
It is a little confusing with this naming.. It's not clear if ErGw1AZ deploys into zone 1 or is it zone redundant Standard SKU..
Thanks.

@Max Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

As seen from the below Table, these are the available SKUs currently:

    171143-2022-02-03-14-05-11-about-expressroute-virtual-net.png

And below are the Zone Redundant SKUs:

Zone-redundant gateways use specific new gateway SKUs for ExpressRoute gateway.

    • ErGw1AZ
    • ErGw2AZ
    • ErGw3AZ

The new gateway SKUs also support other deployment options to best match your needs. When creating a virtual network gateway using the new gateway SKUs, you also have the option to deploy the gateway in a specific zone. This is referred to as a zonal gateway. When you deploy a zonal gateway, all the instances of the gateway are deployed in the same Availability Zone.

So if you want a Zone redundant Gateway, you would go with the new SKUs and sinc eyou need a Standard SKU Type with Zone redundancy you would use ErGW1AZ which has the following capabilities:

    Standard/ERGw1Az

    • Circuit bandwidth: 1Gbps
    • Number of routes advertises by the Gateway: 500
    • Number of routes learned: 4,000

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be glad to assist you further. Thank you!
