Azure Analysis Services - Direct Query not supported for OAuth2

I am trying to build a Tabular Model but when I try to connect Azure SQL DW in DirectQuery mode "Failed to save modifications to the server. Datasource has authentication kind OAuth2. This is not supported in DirectQuery 1400 mode"

As per MS Docs - Direct Query is not supported with OAuth credentials. Link below :

I cannot use the Standard SQL Server Authentication becoz there is RLS implemented in the source, Azure SQL DW and the requirement is to Impersonate User credentials in the Direct Query mode.

Need help.

Yes as called out in the document this is a product limitation at this time

"Direct Query mode is not supported with OAuth credentials."

You can add the product feedback at https://feedback.azure.com/forums/556165-azure-analysis-services . The feedback is reviewed by the Azure analysis team and they do take the feedback for planning new features .

Once you have added the feedback , request you to please share the same on this thread as it may help other community team members .

Hi

I'm experiencing the same problem.
Just wanted to check that this limitation will be resolved in the future?
Acutally Im trying to have both directquery and imported dataset in the same project. Not sure if thats possible. In power Bi you can have mixed sources

I plan to use Visual Studio tabular project to create and maintain Power BI datasets. Or do you have a better solution for doing so?
