SCCM Unable to download Updates Error 12031 and 403

Hi All,

We experienced an issue when trying to use ADR, ruleengine log file showing the below error

Failed to download ContentID 16788076 for UpdateID 16793180. Error code = 12031 and sometimes error code 403

we don't have proxy settings

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
    Error 12031 indicates that the connection with the server has been reset or is not properly connected.
    You may check your PatchDownloader.log to see which update failed with Error code 12031, if the Configuration Manager client is installed on the site server, this log file is on the site server in %windir%\Program Files\SMS_CCM\Logs.
    Then try to manually use the specified URL in your browser.
    Like Jason mentioned in another thread, this error is indicative of issue between you and the content location so could be anything in your network, your ISPs network, and Microsoft including (but not limited not) a proxy, a content filter, some security software, a bad switch, a bad NIC, a bad NIC driver, etc.

    Hi Allen,

    Thanks for your help

    But the odd thing is that I can download single Software Updates and patch downloader file showing the KB link once I use the internet browsers I can download the file normally but the above error codes only showing when using ADR.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
    Is the update that failed to download a .psf files as shown in the above link.
    Seems it only failed with the express update files with ADR, if so, you may need to configure to only download full files for all approved updates:
